Getting political

As a business owner for the last 20+ years, I generally stay out of politics on social media and in my art for a number of reasons. Most significantly, I work with and enjoy the company of many different types of people and I don’t want to offend anyone. But I feel compelled in some situations to speak out and this is one of those times. When the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, I felt sick. Abortion is health care and should always be an option for women. Full stop. As a woman, I want to stand up, with, and for others in unity for this basic fundamental right of bodily autonomy. I created this glass and steel piece with the beautiful, fierce face and inspiring words of Ruth Bader Ginsberg and put it in the front of my shop. Being still new to my small North Carolina town, I’m not sure how it will be received but so far, so good. I also made some small pieces that I will be selling with the proceeds going to the Carolina Abortion Fund. Most of those pieces include the reminder to VOTE! Let’s Roe the Vote in November.
