Honoring Jerome Lemelson at the Metuchen Public Library (original blog date March 21, 2015)

Two summers ago, when I was asked to create a sketch for a window that would honor Jerome Lemelson, I went home and typed his name into my computer.  Although he was a former resident of my town of Metuchen, NJ and held over 600 patents, his name was unfamiliar to me.  I visited the Lemelson Foundation website and saw what amazing work was being done with their financial support.  This Saturday, March 21, from 11 am- 4 pm is the grand opening for the Metuchen Makery, a space located within the Metuchen Library  which was created through funding from the Lemelson Foundation.  As a small token of our appreciation, my friend, Ed Wetzel, framed a photograph of the window I created to honor Mr. Lemelson along with a description of the patents that I incorporated into the fused glass window.  This will be presented to his son, Dr. Rob Lemelson, when he comes for the Makery grand opening.  Knowing what I do now about Jerome Lemelson, I think he would be thrilled to see this very special place where creativity, imagination and innovation thrive!
