Crafting unique visions on Lake Hickory
One of the most common questions I receive is whether I do repairs. Although I feel bad disappointing people, I usually say no, and that’s the end of it. The reason is simple: I don’t enjoy the work that goes into repairs because it offers no opportunity for creativity. However, I often suggest another artist who specializes in repairs or propose discussing a new custom window. I understand that people are often attached to the history of objects in their home, and I respect that. However, given the opportunity to reimagine a window that honors their taste in design and color palette, I am delighted to create my clients’ own vision of paradise. Recently, my clients on Lake Hickory faced this dilemma. They moved into an incredible 10,000 square foot home built by NASCAR legend Dale Jarrett, a house filled with unique custom work. (You can get a sense of its grandeur by watching this YouTube video). Their front door featured a stained glass window that had broken. After learning I didn’t do repairs, they decided they weren’t attached to the old window and were interested in having me create something more in line with their taste. They asked me to design a scene featuring a blue heron standing in water. After a few tweaks to the initial sketch, they were thrilled with the design.
Custom artwork transforms a space, infusing it with personal meaning and beauty. It's about more than just aesthetics; it's about capturing and celebrating the unique essence of a place and its inhabitants. Whether it's a new design inspired by nature, like the blue heron window, or any other concept, the result is a one-of-a-kind masterpiece that tells a personal story. Embracing the opportunity to create new artwork rather than focusing on repairs allows me to bring fresh creativity to each project, ensuring that every piece is not only beautiful but also meaningful to its owners. So, while I might not repair your old window, I can offer something even better—a custom creation that perfectly captures your vision and enhances your space.
