This Saturday night and Sunday is Metuchen’s annual holiday art party, Eat, Drink, and Buy Art, or EDBA for short. Hosted by Transformations Gallery, it’s one of my favorite events of the year. As with any big event that spans multiple days and is attended by hundred of people, it’s a logistical challenge each year with planning beginning in the summer. For years, we moved the venue around which allowed for more artists for a number of years. But that adds extra complications since some of the venues were for rent and we never knew until the last minute if we would have to make a change if the space got a tenant. Last year, we returned to the Old Franklin Schoolhouse and it felt like coming home. This year, when planning began in July, we talked again about using a different venue. We love the ability to have more artists but were unsure if our very small squad of volunteers would be able to handle the extra logistics that result when we take our show on the road. So we decided to stick with the Old Franklin Schoolhouse as our location and I’m so glad we did. Life gets complicated around the holidays and it’s nice to have some traditions to return to. Plus this group of artists are always developing new items which keeps it fresh. This year we also have One Hope Wine, courtesy of Lisa Weidmaier, which means you can buy wine and support some great causes. We will have light refreshments, wine available by the glass, and admission to the event is free and open to the public. We hope you’ll join us!
