This commission was all about patience! I originally blogged about it in July when I was just beginning to create the first of the four stained glass windows. I have been running a backlog of work for quite a while which means when I first talk with a client about a project, I have to ask them if they are willing to wait. If not, I usually have to decline the job. The home owner for these four windows had been waiting and I told her when I started that I hoped to have them completed by Labor Day. However, shortly after I began working on her commission, the client who was next in line reached out to ask if there was any way I could reorder my schedule and create his. He and his wife had decided to move and wanted the windows they had commissioned installed as soon as possible. So I asked this home owner if she would be willing to wait a bit longer. She graciously agreed and I was able to make an arrangement where the extra money my other client paid for a “rush order” was credited to her for her patience. With help from my kind husband, we installed the four stained glass windows this morning. You can see in this photo that the patience continued on to the very end with Scott meticulously attaching the hanging hardware until it was in just the right spot (third time’s a charm!) and then made sure the level showed that everything was perfect. I am planning to go back to her home soon with my photographer friend, David Glasofer, to have him take some professional photos. Her home is beautifully decorated and is a riot of colors and I can’t wait to share how lovely these windows look installed. Stay tuned!
