St. Luke's.jpg

Sometimes commissioned work takes time. I was approached by a local church in November 2020 to create these windows which will be installed into new doors as a COVID safety precaution for the choir. I created some designs and met with the committee to discuss options. In my blog post dated January 29, I shared how, while touring the sanctuary, I had seen a very small painted section on one of the large historic windows and felt inspired to create a similar small design on these windows, However, after I had started construction, the committee decided to go a different direction. They wanted to have inspirational quotes and dedication information painted on the top of the windows and getting the exact wording was important. So my work on them stopped while they deliberated about what quotes would be used. I switched gears to create another commission and was just about ready to switch back when they shared with me the quotes and information they wanted me to paint. I just finished them and snapped this photo of the windows standing on my workbenches to share with the committee. I can’t wait to see how they look inside the gorgeous sanctuary and I hope they keep the choir safe when they eventually get back to in person services.
